Kazakh, German justice ministers met in Berlin

ASTANA. June 10. KAZINFORM. The ministers of justice of Kazakhstan and Germany Rashid Tusupbekov and Brigitte Zypries have met in Berlin today; Kazinform refers to the Kazakh Justice Ministry?s press service.

R. Tusupbekov noted that Kazakhstan attaches significance to interaction with the countries of the European Union, including Germany. On May 7, 2009 the two states signed the action program within Partnership for Future that defines further strategic directions of cooperation, particularly in the sphere of law. The ministers agreed that efficient interdepartmental partnership would promote successful realization of the program as well as further strengthening of Kazakh-European dialog. A joint statement on cooperation between the justice ministries of Kazakhstan and Germany was signed. Afterwards, the Kazakh Minister of Justice met with the Chairman of the Supreme Court of Berlin and deputy of German Bundestag, Deputy Chairman of the German-Central Asia parliamentary group of Bundestag. The German side expressed readiness to render support in studying German experience in the penal system, legal expertise and implementation of international standards on human rights into the Kazakh legislation within the framework of ?Path to Europe? program.
