Kazakh, French parliamentarians met
ANA. October 6. KAZINFORM Delegations of the Kazakh and French Parliaments have met in Astana today. The Kazakh side is headed by Senate Speaker Kassym Zhomart Tokayev and the French side - by Chairman of France-Kazakhstan Friendship Group Emeri de Montesquieu.
As the press service of the Senate informs, the parties focused on the issues of further strengthening the Kazakh-French relations including the inter-parliamentary dialogue.
Having noted importance of the meeting held within the official visit of President of France to Kazakhstan, K. Tokayev pointed out necessity of further development of the friendly relations and strengthening multilateral cooperation between the two countries. The Speaker thanked the French parliamentarians for the support of Kazakhstan's candidacy for the OSCE chairmanship in 2010 and expressed an opinion that participation of our country in preparation and holding activities dedicated to the 20th anniversary of adoption of the Paris Charter for the new Europe would positively influence the Kazakh-French relations.
K. Tokayev highly appraised interaction of the Kazakh and French deputies within the OSCE PA and spoke for the support of N. Sarkozy's proposition to hold the OSCE summit.
Chairman of France-Kazakhstan Friendship Group Emeri de Montesquieu praised Kazakhstan's achievements in political and economic spheres. According to the French deputy, Kazakhstan's successful experience in establishment of inter-civilization dialogue and inter-cultural harmony, advancement of nuclear-free initiatives, disarmament and non-proliferation will be implemented in European countries.
