Kazakhstan strongly condemns the Democratic People's Republic of another nuclear test in violation of UN Security Council Resolution number 1718 (2006) and 1874 (2009), the statement said.

Nuclear weapons tests have a negative impact on the process of nuclear disarmament and security risks in both regional and global scales. Our country, having experienced devastating effects of nuclear testing, is the initiator of establishing the UN International Day against Nuclear Tests.

In this regard, Kazakhstan calls for the immediate resumption of talks on the North Korean nuclear issue and the six-party format urges Pyongyang to refrain from any steps that could lead to an escalation of tension, according to the Foreign Ministry.
