Kazakh Foreign Minister meets with US Secretary of Energy
ASTANA. October 7. KAZINFORM. /Damir Baimanov/ Kazakh Minister of Foreign Affairs Kanat Saudabayev has met with US Deputy Secretary of Energy Daniel Poneman today in Astana.
"I have many interesting meetings during my visit to Kazakhstan. I visited Aktau, Atyrau, in particular Tengiz deposit. Today we held meetings within the framework of KIOGE oil and gas exhibition", Mr. Poneman said.
Tomorrow the US Deputy Secretary of Energy together with Kazakh Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources will take part in the VI sitting of the council on Kazakhstan-USA partnership in energy sphere. The sides are planned to sign a joint statement on the details of further partnership in the fields of nuclear safety and atomic energy, oil and gas, electric power, renewable energy sources and energy efficiency. It will promote development of strategic partnership between the two states.
In trade-economic cooperation the USA place emphasis on attraction of American investments to Kazakhstan. In 2008 the volume of commodity circulation between the two countries amounted to USD 2.508 billion that is by 22% more as compared to 2007.
