Kazakh entrepreneurs ready to explore Congo’s mining sector – President
Kazakhstan and Congo may cooperate in exploration and development of rare-earth mineral deposits. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said it at the meeting with the President of the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou-Nguesso, in Akorda today, Kazinform News Agency reports.
The Head of State noted the importance of boosting cooperation between the two countries is mining sector.
“As is known, both countries possess rich natural resources. There is an opportunity to cooperate in exploration and development of deposits of iron, phosphate, bauxite and other rare-earth minerals. During the talks, I said that Kazakhstani businessmen are ready to explore mining sector of Congo,” the Kazakh President said.
In his words, the sides comprehensively discussed the two countries’ relations in transport and logistics.
“The Republic of Congo is a gate to the Central African region, and the Port of Pointe-Noire is the key to this gate. The potential of this wharf is very high. Kazakhstan is interested in using the potential of this port. We must exert every effort to develop this mutually beneficial cooperation. Therefore, I have invited top officials and businessmen of the Republic of Congo to the Astana International Forum slated for the next year. During the Forum, they will be able to learn more about Kazakhstan’s economic potential,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
