Kazakh Embassy in Russia held briefing on election results

MOSCOW. KAZINFORM - In Moscow the press center of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Russian Federation has held a briefing for the media on the presidential elections' results.

Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Russia Erlan Baizhanov briefed journalists on the election campaign, the voting results and evaluations of international observers. He thanked representatives of the Russian media for objective and friendly coverage of the electoral process. The diplomat stressed that the high voter turnout demonstrated a level of legal culture and political activity of citizens. Minister Counsellor noted that Kazakhstan has undertaken all possible measures to organize the electoral process in accordance with the highest democratic requirements. In conclusion E.Baizhanov informed that about five thousand citizens of Kazakhstan temporally residing in Russia took part in the elections. Polling stations were opened at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Moscow and consular offices of Kazakhstan in St. Petersburg, Omsk, Astrakhan and Kazan. Voter turnout equaled 95.98%, while 99.68% of selectors cast their votes for Nursultan Nazarbayev.
