Kazakh Education Minister, US Ambassador discussed coop development

ASTANA. March 5. KAZINFORM. Kazakh Minister of Education and Science Zhanseit Tuimebayev has met with Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the US to Kazakhstan Richard Hoagland today; Kazinform refers to the press service of the Education and Science Ministry.

Mr. Tuimebayev talked about the Ministry?s interest in development of cooperation with the US in various directions including the project ?New University?. ?Under the President?s commission Astana creates a unique international center of education and science in Eurasia. The memorandums of cooperation were signed with the New Jersey Institute of Technology, University of Kent, University of Pittsburgh, Rochester Institute of Technology. We have held successful talks with the Harvard University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University. In April we are going to hold a seminar with the participation of these higher educational institutions. In October we plan to open a training school. Its graduates will be able to enter the New University and other leading universities of the world?, the Minister said. Zh. Tuimebayev informed the diplomat of the work on accreditation of the universities. He also expressed interest in development of partnership relations with the American Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). The Ambassador expressed gratitude for the fruitful meeting. He noted the necessity to activate interaction in the sphere of ensuring biosafety and accreditation of American educational programs in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
