Kazakh deputy Akhmetov: ODIHR tools should be used in fight against intolerance and discrimination towards Muslims
ASTANA. June 11. KAZINFORM - Member of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman on Combating Intolerance and Discrimination against Muslims Adil Akhmetov in the country visit to Belgium met with the government officials, civil society and the Muslim communities, the press service of the House of the Senate reports.
Stressing the importance of international and regional cooperation in the fight against intolerance and discrimination against Muslims, Akhmetov recommended for this purpose to use the tools of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the programs that deal with hate crimes and promote tolerance.
The meeting participants were unanimous in the view that fight against racism, xenophobia and intolerance should be among the key priorities of the Organization and its institutions, and called for the improvement of legislation and practice in this area in the OSCE participating States.
