Kazakh Defense Minister met with OSCE Secretary General

ASTANA. September 13. KAZINFORM Today Kazakh Defense Minister Adilbek Dzhaksybekov has met with OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier.

"Kazakhstan plays a significant role in the implementation of international obligations within the political and military dimension of the OSCE," Kazakh Defense Minister said at the meeting, the Ministry's press service reported.

The OSCE member states conduct annual inspections in accordance with the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe.

The sides discussed a joint contribution to the strengthening of regional confidence-building measures and security.

Since 2006, 15 seminars and coursework sessions with the participation of Central Asia and the Caucasus reps were held together with the OSCE.

After the meeting, A. Dzhaksybekov and L. Zannier stressed the importance of such events in the political and military dimension. "It helps improve the practical implementation of international treaties and agreements in the Central Asian region, strengthen cooperation between the armed forces of the OSCE participating states," the sides agreed.
