Kazakh Consulate in Syria keeps eye on 19 nationals - Zhanbolat Ussenov

ASTANA. August 29. KAZINFORM "At present, 19 citizens of Kazakhstan, who refused to leave the country, are staying on the territory of Syria," official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Zhanbolat Ussenov has informed today at a briefing in Astana.

"A lot of them are women who are married and live in Syria. In case they will seek help, the diplomatic mission of Kazakhstan is ready to make every effort to transport them out of Syria," Mr. Ussenov said.

Besides, according to him, 220 Kazakhstanis stayed in Syria at the beginning of 2012. All of them were provided assistance and were evacuated at their own request.

Currently, the Kazakh diplomatic mission in Syria is situated on the territory of Jordan. However, the Consulate of Kazakhstan in Syria was relocated to Lebanon in Beirut. In addition, the Consulate keeps in touch with all the remaining citizens of Kazakhstan.
