Kazakh companies playing more active role at South African market

ASTANA. September 7. KAZINFORM Bakytzhan Sagintayev, Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan, met with South African Ambassador to Kazakhstan Maneklal Soni on Friday (September 7).

Minister Sagintayev noted Kazakhstani companies were playing more active role at the South African market nowadays, however, current level of the Kazakh-South African commercial and economic cooperation requires 'an additional impetus'.

The sides touched upon the problems of bilateral commercial and economic cooperation and exchanged views on the upcoming visit of Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev to South Africa that would become a platform for further expansion and deepening of the mutual cooperation.

At the end of the meeting B. Sagintayev thanked South Africa for support of Kazakhstan's international initiatives, especially its bid to host the international exhibition EXPO-2017 in Astana.

In 2011, the sales turnover between Kazakhstan and South Africa amounted to USD 35.1 million, that is 78.2 per cent more than in previous year (USD 19.7 million).
