Kazakh Celebrity Concert

KAZINFORM The Embassy of Kazakhstan is pleased to inform about the forthcoming Kazakh Celebrity Concert as part of the Festival of Kazakh Arts dedicated to the 20th Anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan to be held in Cadogan Hall, London on 16 June 2011, Kazinform refers to the website of the Kazakhstan Embassy in the UK.
The exciting Russian cellist Boris Andrianov will be giving a rare London recital together with legendary pianist Eleonora Bekova when they programme together two highlights of romantic music writing by Rachmaninov and Schumann with two of the pinnacles of twentieth century cello composition by Schnittke and Shostakovich.
Rachmaninov's Romances are better known as songs for voice but take on a new sublime beauty when performed by cello whilst the Fantasy Pieces are amongst the most loved of all Schumann's writing. By way of contrast, the Schnittke and Shostakovich combine the most driven motoric music placing exceptional demands on the performers with movements of haunting soundscapes and profound poignancy.
