Kazakh-Belgian trade turnover made $111 mln in Jan-June
ASTANA. October 12. KAZINFORM /Serik Sabekov/ The volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Belgium amounted to USD 111 million during the period from January till June 2010. Kazakh Vice Minister of Industry and New Technologies Nurmukhambet Abdibekov has made it public at the Kazakh-Belgian business forum in Astana today.
"Our today's meeting is an evidence of mutual interest in strengthening of business contacts. I am particularly impressed by active participation of small and medium businesses, whose contribution to economic development is more than invaluable", Abdibekov said.
According to him, during the period from 1993 to 2009 the total amount of Belgian investments to Kazakhstan exceeded USD 500 million. 29 companies with Belgian capital operate in Kazakhstan presently. The commodity circulation made USD 180 million last year.
N. Abdibekov emphasized the necessity to enhance economic cooperation. He expressed hope that Kazakh-Belgian business meetings would become a good tradition and lead to joint implementation of specific investment projects in priority sectors.
