Kazakh authorities always meet needs of observers, no forbidden places - CIS observer A. Torshin
ASTANA. April 3. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ A group of observers from the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, headed by first deputy chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Alexander Torshin participated in the opening of the polling station № 197 located in the building of the Kazakh-Russian University in Astana.
"We have a tradition of visiting Kazakhstan. We can say that the Kazakh authorities always meet the needs of observers, there are no forbidden places and sites in this country", A. Torshin said to journalists.
"Today, on the data that I have, all the ballot stations, which were attended by our observers, opened on time. I am glad that not only the elderly but also young people came early in the morning", he noted.
According to him, 1 059 observers, including 426 from the CIS, are monitoring the elections.
Along with the CIS observers, representatives of the European Union attended the polling station. They are Irnerio Seminatore, President of the European Institute for International Relations, Baudouin de Sonis, Executive Director of e-Forum association, Elke Tindemans, ex-senator of the Kingdom of Belgium.
