Kazakh and British volunteers to go to Shymkent

ALMATY. June 15. KAZINFORM /Dauren Zhailin/ - Young volunteers from Great Britain are embarking on a three-month activity in Kazakhstan, Lina Miloshevitch, Director of British Council in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, announced today at the press conference in Almaty on the occasion of the second phase of the international exchange program between Kazakhstan and Great Britain.
Eighteen volunteers from Kazakhstan and Great Britain are enrolled in the Global Xchange program after a tough competitive selection process.
The program is a partnership initiative of the Voluntary Service Overseas and the British Council and young people of 18-25 are eligible to participate, according to Lina Miloshevitch.
The first phase of the program of 2009 was from March through June in Great Britain hosted by the Stansted community in Harlow and Bishops Stortford.
Supervisor of Kazakhstani volunteers of the Global Xchange program Malika Atasheva informed that the second phase in Shymkent will include work at public entities and NGOs engaged in HIV/AIDS problems and disabled people support. The partner in Kazakhstan this year will be the South-Kazakhstani affiliate of the Association of Business.
