Kazakh ambassador presented credentials to President of Austria

VIENNA. May 18. KAZINFORM /Timur Bekturganov/ Kazakh Ambassador Kairat Abdrakhmanov presented credentials to Federal President of Austria Heinz Fischer on Tuesday at the Hofburg Imperial Palace in Vienna.

The diplomat told the President of Austria about Kazakhstan's achievements in the light of the 20th anniversary of the country's independence and priorities of development outlined by President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev in his annual address to the nation and other program documents.

Heinz Fischer warmly recalled his first official visit to Kazakhstan at the invitation of Kazakh leader and his participation in the OSCE Summit in Astana in December 2010.

Diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Austria were established in February 1992. Kazakh-Austrian relations have been developing very intensively, and are currently at a very high level. Trade turnover in 2010 increased twofold since 2009 and made USD 2.75 billion. 135 joint ventures are operating in Kazakhstan. Direct investments drawn from Austria into the Kazakh economy totaled USD 2.8 billion.
