Kazakh Ambassador and President of European People's Party discussed coop issues

BRUSSELS. February 25. KAZINFORM /Yerzhan Ospanov/ Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Belgium, Head of the Kazakh Mission to the European Union and NATO Yerik Utembayev and President of the European People's Party (EPP) Wilfried Martens discussed the issues of further development of bilateral political cooperation.

The sides negotiated measures on strengthening of bilateral Interparliamentary partnership within the Committee of Parliamentary Cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EU, including extension of the dialogues between "Nur Otan" National Democratic Party and the EPP and complimented the dynamics of development of the Kazakh-European partnership in different fields.

The Kazakh Ambassador informed the interlocutor on the processes of modernization of the national legislation and economic reforms. Besides, Y.Utembayev briefed on the main priorities of the Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship. the Diplomat told about adoption of the National Human Rights Plan and Concept of Legal Policy in the country.

W.Martens complimented the work of Kazakhstan on the way to international standards in the legislative activity and provision of human rights. Besides, he stressed the role of the country in provision of the international security and expressed assurance that the Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship will give an impetus to the work of the Organization and the common European cooperation in this field.

The EPP President supported the suggestion of "Nur Otan" Party's Chairman Nurlan Nigmatulin to activate work on the promotion of closer cooperation and discus an opportunity of signing of Memo between parties that would reflect mutual interest in cooperation of the sides and principles of organization of the partnership in the field of legislative activity. W.Martens accepted the invitation of N.Nigmatulin to pay a visit to Kazakhstan.
