Kazakh airline companies to launch direct flights to Budapest, Riga, Vienna and Munich

A delegation of Kazakhstan led by Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Foreign Affairs Murat Nurtleu has participated in the 21st session of the Kazakhstan-European Union Cooperation Council in Luxembourg, Kazinform News Agency reports.

During the meeting, Saltanat Tompiyeva, Chair of the Kazakh Civil Aviation Committee, and Simon Brain, policy officer for international aviation at the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport, European Commission, initialed the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the European Union on some aspects of air transportation.

As the Ministry of Transport says, this procedure is a final step in preparation of the document for signing and will become a legal basis for all EU countries to launch direct flights to Kazakhstan. This, in turn, will let strengthen cooperation in opening air communication between Kazakhstan and EU countries.

So far, Kazakhstan has established direct air communication with five EU countries – Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland and Czech Republic. Two Kazakh and three European airline companies operate 34 flights per week. The number of countries rises to six (Greece) in summer season.

Meanwhile, the work on expanding the air transportations between the sides is ongoing. In a short-term period, Kazakh airline companies plan to launch flights to Budapest, Riga, Vienna and Munich.
