Kazakh agro-industrial sector needs foreign investments - Mamytbekov
ALMATY. May 26. KAZINFORM /Aigul Turysbekova/ Since 2009 Kazakhstan's policy in the sphere of agriculture has been directly linked to the Program of Accelerated Industrial Innovative Development and oriented to energy saving technologies, Kazakh Minister of Agriculture Assylzhan Mamytbekov said at "Foreign investments in Kazakhstan: experience, goals and prospects" roundtable on Thursday in Almaty.
The Minister noted "Kazakhstan has a big potential for the development of agriculture industry. The agricultural GDP is about USD 10 billion. The country enjoys steady growth in production of grain, meat, milk. On grain production Kazakhstan is among the top ten countries in the world. We also increased production of oil crops, and have good prospects in the development of livestock."
According to him, the government actively supports and creates favorable conditions for the agro-industrial sector. Preferential tax system is available for agricultural producers. Farmers receive, on average, 20 to 60 percent subsidies.
"However, government support measures should be combined with the attraction of foreign direct investment in this sphere," he noted.
