Kazakh Agriculture Ministry promises to reduce meat prices
ASTANA. December 8. KAZINFORM - As a result of the implementation of measures in the framework of the program on development of the export potential of cattle meat in Kazakhstan the production cost of meat has been reduced to 500 tenge, Agriculture Minister Assylzhan Mamytbekov said, according to the Kazakh PM's site.
The minister said that "despite the low cost meat quality will be excellent - no growth hormones, no GMO additives in fodders. We will obtain quality, organically pure marbled meat for export and domestic market."
Mamytbekov believes that this chain would enable to cut subsidies to livestock sector.
"And then it will be possible to cut state subsidies. All the technology will work to produce competitive products that will be in demand ... Subsidies are needed now in order to build the right production technology," he concluded.
Through various forms of state support, including government subsidies, Kazakhstan is forming a meat production chain - households with broodstock, cattle breeding reproducers supplying bulls, feedlots who buy bull calves born in these farms and a slaughterhouse.
