Kassym-Jomart Tokayev calls for large-scale renovation of healthcare infrastructure
President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev assigned the Government to carry out a comprehensive renovation of Kazakhstan’s healthcare infrastructure and modernize the sector’s material and technical base Qazinform News Agency reports.
The Head of State noted, the first stage of the national project on rural healthcare modernization has been successfully implemented. Since 2023, 655 new primary healthcare facilities have been built.
Besides, new specialized scientific institutes, multidisciplinary hospitals, modern polyclinics, and perinatal centers are being commissioned in Astana and the regions.
Despite progress, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed that over 14,000 healthcare facilities in the country have exceeded their service life limits, requiring urgent renovation.
The President emphasized that the Government must undertake a massive overhaul of the entire healthcare infrastructure, updating equipment, facilities, and technical resources.
Earlier, maternal mortality decreased by 35% over the past three years, while infant mortality dropped by 24%, reaching the lowest levels since independence.
