Kashagan oil field back to full capacity after repairs

The Kazakh energy ministry informed the Kashagan oil field is now back to full capacity after a month-long closure for essential maintenance, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

As the ministry pointed out, the oil production stands at 51,000 tons per day at the Kashagan field.

It should be noted that repair works at the field began on October 7 and were scheduled to last 30 days. On October 30, it was reported that oil and gas production restarted at the Kashagan field.

Kashagan is the largest oil and gas field in the Kazakh section of the Caspian Sea. Located 80 kilometers south-west of the city of Atyrau, it occupies an area of 3,375 kilometers. The Kashagan reservoir is around 4,200 meters deep below the shallow waters of the northern part of the Caspian Sea.
