Kashagan field holds 10 billion barrels of oil and 1 trillion cubic meters of gas - Nazarbayev
ATYRAU. September 17. KAZINFORM /Andrey Sokolov/ Probable oil reserves at the Kashagan field in the Caspian Sea, the development of which is currently underway in Atyrau region, make at least 10 billion tons of oil. And gas reserves - more than 1 trillion cubic meters.
President Nursultan Nazarbayev who is paying a working visit to Atyrau region has announced it during surveying the artificial island D at the Kashagan field in the Caspian Sea.
The Head of State confirmed that the start of the first crude production at the Kashagan field in Kazakhstan's sector of the Caspian Sea by is not to be rescheduled. "We're on the eve of getting the first oil in late 2012. Then oil will flow to the Bolashak plant. 50 million tons of oil per year will be mined at the first stage," the Head of State stated.
