Karaganda region should boost industrial potential - Kelimbetov

KARAGANDA. March 2. KAZINFORM Karaganda region should not slow down the pace of economic growth, increasing industrial capacity, Deputy Prime Minister Kairat Kelimbetov stated during his working trip to the region.

Industrial and economic development is a priority task, he said at a meeting with local authorities on the issues of implementation of the Kazakh President's annual address to the nation. "Karaganda region is one of the major industrial centers of the country. The situation in the country largely depends on the situation in this region. The region, as well as the whole country, faces a task to ensure 7 percent economic growth by 2015."

Under the Industrialization Map in 2010-2011 the region launched 33 investment projects totaling KZT 66 billion. "Karaganda region is a leader in implementing the program "Business Road Map 2020." Over 100 applications worth KZT 32 billion were approved under the program. As a result 2,000 jobs were created. The pace should not slow down. It is necessary to continue to boost the industrial potential of the region," Kelimbetov added.
