K. Tokayev met with Deputy Secretary General of UN
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Today, Senate Speaker Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev received Ms. Cristina Gallach, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information. During the meeting he noted that the cooperation with the UN was one of the priority directions in the foreign policy of Kazakhstan. Thus, he noted the relevance of holding in Astana the international media seminar of the UN on peaceful process in the Middle East.
According to K. Tokayev, this event demonstrates the strengthening of the cooperation between Kazakhstan and the UN, the press service of the Senate informs.
Ms. Cristina Gallach informed the Senate Speaker about the events dedicated to the anniversary of the organization and about the upcoming anniversary summit of the UN in New York where the record setting number of presidents and heads of governments would gather.
The interlocutors stressed the importance of celebration of the 7oth anniversary of the UN, the unique organization ensuring security, peace, development and protection of human rights.
K. Tokayev also informed that it was planned to adopt the joint statement dedicated to the 70 th anniversary of the UN at the sitting the CIS Heads of States scheduled to be held in Astana within the presidency of Kazakhstan in the CIS.
The Senate Speaker informed his interlocutor about the initiated by the President of Kazakhstan program "100 steps for implementation of five institutional reforms", new economic course "Nurly Zhol" and about preparation for the 5 th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. The Congress is scheduled to be held on June 10-11 in Astana.
