During the meeting, the King stressed Jordan's keenness on developing Jordanian-Kazakh relations in all fields.

Amman Mayor Omar Maani and Tasmagambetov yesterday unveiled a sign renaming a street in Amman after the president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, in recognition of the distinguished relations between the two countries.

Maani and Tasmagambetov, who headed a delegation from Kazakhstan to the event, commended the two cities' ongoing cooperation in planning and urban development, public parks, sports and other areas.

In November last year, the Astana and Amman municipalities signed a plan detailing steps to execute an agreement on bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, scientific, technical and humanitarian spheres for 2010-2011.

Tasmagambetov thanked the King on behalf of the leadership, government and people of Kazakhstan for the street-naming gesture, which, he said, underlines the good relations between the two Muslim nations.

The event was attended by senior Jordanian officials in addition to Kazakh Ambassador to Jordan Bulat Sarsenbayev, Jordan Times reports.
