Joint tourist routes set to boost Central Asia tourism

Chairman of Uzbek Tourism Committee Abdulaziz Akkulov met with Zulfiya Karimova, Head of the CAREC program for grant support, cross-border tourism, and regional integration, to discuss the creation of a Tourist Ring of Central Asia, Qazinform News Agency reports citing UzA.

Those gathered focused on introducing a single visa for tourists from third countries to simplify travel across the region, launching joint tourist routes to connect multiple Central Asian destinations, and establishing special corridors for tourist groups at Uzbekistan’s checkpoints.

They also suggested Central Asian countries’ participation in global exhibitions under a shared pavilion and increasing tourist ties with the United States, Australia, and Latin America.

Following the talks, the sides agreed to launch pilot projects to expand border checkpoints in Fergana and Tashkent regions, organize joint training programs and introduce digital technologies to streamline tourism services.

The initiative was first proposed by Uzbekistan’s President at the 59th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank Board of Governors.
