Japan to give over $32 mil to IMF for technical assistance, training
WASHINGTON. July 3. KAZINFORM Japan is poised to contribute more than $32 million to the International Monetary Fund to help finance the multilateral agency's technical assistance and training work for this financial year, the IMF said Monday.
Through the contribution, Tokyo will support the IMF's programs for low- and lower middle-income members, especially in Asia, for the year that began on May 1. It brings Japan's funding to the IMF's capacity development activities since 1990 to more than $465 million.
"Japan's contribution helps beneficiary countries build stronger institutions and put in place better economic policies, both of which are critical to cope with global uncertainties, increase growth, and reduce poverty," the IMF said, referring to such recipients as Cambodia and East Timor, Kyodo reports.
