Japan's ruling parties finalize emergency stimulus packages

TOKYO. KAZINFORM Japan's two ruling parties each finalized emergency economic stimulus packages Thursday, both centering on steps to bolster sluggish domestic demand following the April 1 consumption tax hike, lawmakers said.

The stimulus packages also include measures to invigorate regional economies and spending by households that face rising prices for imported products due to the yen's rapid depreciation, they said. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's Liberal Democratic Party and its junior coalition partner Komeito are likely to incorporate the policy proposals in their campaign pledges for the Dec. 14 general election, Kyodo reports.
