Italy’s gas storage nears 80% benchmark
Italy’s natural gas reserves have approached 80 %, more than two months ahead of the October 31 storage deadline, though levels remain lower than those recorded at the same point last year, WAM reported.
According to data released by Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), Italian gas storage reached 79.78 percent, equivalent to approximately 162.3 TWh, compared to 85.56 percent (173.7 TWh) during the corresponding period last year.
Across Europe, overall gas storage exceeded 61 percent, standing at 61.37 percent (around 693.6 TWh). This marks the lowest level recorded for this time of year since 2009, down from 74.36 percent logged on August 19, 2025.
In Germany, which holds Europe's largest storage capacity, inventories crossed the 50 percent threshold for the first time this year to reach 50.06 percent, compared to 67.5 percent during the same period last year.
Earlier, it was reported that China's domestic oil and gas supply is set to reach 440 million tons of oil equivalent by 2030 under a new five-year plan for the sector.
