Italy tops list of Kazakhstan’s export partners

Italy tops the list of key exporters of Kazakhstani goods following the first half of 2024. Kazakhstani exports to Italy stood at $9bn, making up 23.6% of the country’s total exports, more by $2bn compared to the same period of last year, Kazinform News Agency cites the National Statistics Bureau.

Coming in second in the list of top exports of Kazakhstani goods is China with a 18.6% share ($7.3bn). China is placed second as well among Kazakhstan’s major import trade partners with a share of 24.5% ($6.7bn).

Russia followed the list of Kazakhstan’s top three exporters, with a 10.9% share ($4.2bn). The country emerged as Kazakhstan’s top import trade partner as goods worth $7.9bn (28.6%) were imported from Moscow to Kazakhstan in the first six months of 2024.

The list of Kazakhstan’s major export trade partners also includes France (5.5%), Türkiye (3.9%), Greece (3.6%), Romania (2.5%), South Korea (2.4%) and the US (2.3%).

In the first half of the year, Kazakhstan largely exported fuel and energy commodities (70.5%), metals and products from them (11.6%), chemical products (4.4%), food products (2.7%), machinery, equipment and appliances (2.4%).

To note, the export commodity structure from Kazakhstan to the CIS countries is more diversified, with the country mainly exporting chemical commodities (21.7%), metals and items from them (21.1%), food products (18.9%), machinery, equipment and appliances (17.9%).

Alongside Russia and China, Kazakhstan’s major import trade partners include Germany (5.1%), the US (4.1%), South Korea (3.3%), Türkiye (3.2%), France (3%), Italy (3%) and Japan (3%).

In the reporting period, Kazakhstan imported machinery, vehicles, equipment and appliances worth $11.8bn, accounting for over half of the country’s imports. The list of the country’s main imports was followed by chemical commodities (17.3%), food products (7.3%) and textile items (6.2%).
