Issues on introduction of distance education discussed in Astana

ASTANA. September 30. KAZINFORM. /Eugeny Novikov/ International scientific-practical conference "Distance education technologies in continuing vocational education" has been opened at the initiative of Kazakh Ministry of Education and Science in the Kazakh-Russian University, Astana, today.

"We want to join efforts of the higher educational institutions on further improvement of new formats in realization of distance education technology and unification of information-electronic resources. We have an idea of creation of a republican electronic library and university portal", Manager of the Ministry's Higher Education Department Serik Omirbayev said at the conference.

The participants discuss the issues of distance education technologies, formation of a legal framework, prospects of development, experience in introduction of new methodology in the universities of Kazakhstan and CIS states.

The representatives of the National Academy of Education, National Informatization Center and higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus take part in the forum.

Distance learning has been realized in 20 universities of Kazakhstan since 2002.
