Issues on increasing food security in CIS to be discussed at meeting of Intergovernmental Council

ST. PETERBURG. December 9. KAZINFORM /Yelena Myagkova/ The CIS Executive Committee will hold a meeting of the Intergovernmental Council on agricultural issues.

The press service of the Executive Committee informs that the members of the Council will consider preliminary results of the work of enterprises in agricultural sphere and discuss the tasks of the Council on realization of the Conception for increasing food security and on establishing market of meat and milk products of the CIS member countries. Besides, it is planned to make a decision on announcing this year 'A year of increased security in the CIS'.

The agenda also includes issues on trade turnover at fruit and vegetables products and potatoes, establishment of the Nongovernmental Organizations Committee in the sphere of agriculture under the Intergovernmental Council, etc.

As was noted by the press service during the work of the Council 22 meetings were held and 250 issues on development of agriculture were considered.

The Council developed a number of agreements in this sphere including the Agreements on common agricultural CIS market signed by the Heads of the Governments of the CIS countries (excluding Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan)
