Kazakh Minister of Foreign Affairs Yerzhan Kazykhanov has said it at a regular session of the SCO Foreign Ministers Council.

According to him, a recent elimination of number one terrorist Osama bin Laden is success of the U.S.A., but not a victory over international terrorism. "Revanchist sentiments of followers of al-Qaida, Taliban and other terrorist and extremist organizations may trigger a new wave of terror," he said.

"In our opinion, the Afghan situation will continue to maintain tension in the region, being the source of terrorism, extremism, illicit trafficking in drugs and weapons," Y.Kazykhanov said.

Development of the situation in Afghanistan requires joint monitoring, the Minister considers. "In this context we suggest to exchange information every quarter in the line of the security councils, holding consultations between the SCO MFAs and observers on a regular basis with participation of representatives of Afghanistan and Turkmenistan", the Minister resumed.
