Issue of lower pensions of some Kazakhstanis to be resolved: PM

KAZINFORM /Damir Baimanov/ The Government of Kazakhstan works on resolving the issue of pensioners born between 1948 and 50s whose pensions are lower due to the closure of many enterprises during the perestroika. Kazakh Prime Minister Karim Massimov said it at the session of the "Nur Otan" Party's faction.

Majilis Deputy Svetlana Ferkho informed that she and her colleagues received many requests from pensioners getting lower pensions. There are about 697 thousand such pensioners out of 1.6 mln in Kazakhstan. The Deputy noted that the solution of this problem was outlined in the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection for 2010-2014. However, particular measures have not been taken yet.

"Mr. Massimov, can you tell whether a mechanism of pension calculation for this group of people will be introduced?", the Deputy said addressing the Premier. The Head of the Government, in his turn, said that a working group was established under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection to resolve this problem. K.Massimov said that this issue would be solved soon.
