As RIA Novosti informed, the suspects were detained two weeks ago in the course of two different police operations. In one of the operations, police detained four Iranian nationals, who kept in their house over 134 kilograms (295 lbs) of methamphetamine.

In the other operation, police detained three male Iranians and a female Uzbek national on suspicion of smuggling some 50 kilograms (110 lbs) of methamphetamine in Indonesia.

In line with Malaysian laws, there is only one punishment for drug trafficking, which is the death penalty. A person is considered a drug trafficker if he carries more than 15 grams of heroin, 200 grams of marijuana or any other type of drugs.
