During the meeting on Saturday, the two sides also discussed Iran-Turkmenistan relations in different political and cultural fields and also exchanged views over mutual economic cooperation in the energy sector.

Both diplomats also laid emphasis on the implementation of the decisions taken during the recent nuclear disarmament conference in Tehran and the disarmament conference in Ashgabat.

Tehran held a conference on nuclear disarmament on April 18-19 with officials from different world countries in attendance. During the two-day conference, world officials, politicians and experts from 60 countries put their heads together to address issues and concerns in connection with nuclear disarmament.

Following the Tehran conference, Ashgabat hosted an international conference on disarmament in Central Asia and the Caspian Sea region. Foreign ministers of Iran, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan as well as deputy foreign ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Azerbaijan participated in the conference.

Elsewhere, Mottaki and Meredow also reviewed the progress of bilateral agreements within the framework of the two countries' Economic Cooperation Commission and discussed ways to accelerate their implementation.

Iran has recently enhanced efforts to boost political, economic and cultural ties and cooperation with the regional and neighboring countries, specially those in the Central Asia.

In line with the same policy, President Ahmadinejad visited Turkmenistan and inaugurated different economic projects in the Central Asian country in January 2010, Kazinform refers to Fars News Agency.
