The detainees were arrested in the northwestern town of Sardasht in West Azarbaijan province, an "informed source" told IRNA on condition of anonymity on Wednesday.

"These people were identified a month ago and were subsequently detained by an order by judicial authorities," the source said.

The al-Qaeda members propagated "Wahhabi and Salafi" ideologies in the country, the report said.

It added that the security forces also found a considerable number of books and documents related to Wahhabism and other misleading sects, PressTV reported. Kazinform cites Trend News. See www.en.trend.az
