Ioan Andone appointed head coach at «Astana» football club
ASTANA. July 21. KAZINFORM - Ioan Andone has been appointed as a head coach at "Astana" FC, Vesti.kz reports referring to the press service of the team.
Andone has replaced Miroslav Beranek, who resigned after the crushing defeat from the Bulgarian "Botev" in the first qualifying round of the Europa League .
The contract signing procedure with the 53-year-old Romanian specialist took place in "Astana" FC office. Details of the agreement were not disclosed.
According to www.dolce-sport.ro information, Andone's contract with "Astana" is valid till December. The coach should lead the team to the championship. If he wins the title there will be negotiations on extending the agreement.
Andone will assume his duties on Monday, July 22. In the match against "Atyrau" the team will be led by Gregory Babayan.
I. Andone has extensive experience in the Romanian clubs as he led, at different times, "Omonia" from Cyprus, "Al-Ittifaq" from Saudi Arabia, "Al-Ahly" from Qatar and the CSKA from Bulgaria. In April 2012, Andone came back to CFR Cluj, and helped the team win its third Liga I title. Under his guidance, CFR accessed to the UEFA Champions League group stage, after winning all four qualifying games.
