Investments into education to increase competitiveness of Kazakhstan

ASTANA. June 18. KAZINFORM Member of the Council of the Center for Talented Youth of the Johns Hopkins University Ming Jack Po shared his expert opinion on prospects of development of secondary education in Kazakhstan in the exclusive interview for Pm.kz site.

"Investments into education will increase the competitiveness of Kazakhstan in terms of human assets capital and moreover the results have to have positive impact in the economy in ten years," he said.

Presently, Kazakhstan pays great attention to improvement of education in the sphere of exact sciences and mathematics. In 2008, Kazakhstan took part in the international assessment system of education PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) for the first time which shows that the country takes better and higher positions in scientific and education sphere.

"It is very important to develop mathematics and natural sciences education. In case we improve education in these spheres we will see the results from teachers and children," the representative of the Johns Hopkins University said.

According to him, in order to make the right decisions, it is necessary to organize meetings of teachers, representatives of universities, Ministry of Education and Science and discuss modern education policy. "The Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools is a good example of a dialogue platform for development of teachers and as a result of its development, a better atmosphere for children will be created. This is highly important for young industrially developing country," Ming Jack Po added.
