Internationalization of higher education discussed at KBTU

ATY. October 6. KAZINFORM /Aygul Turysbekova/ -  A roundtable meeting was held Tuesday at the Kazakh-British Technical University in Almaty where the issues of internationalization of higher education and perspectives of cooperation  in education between Great Britain and Kazakhstan.

"The progress of higher education in your country impresses. I know that learning the English and professional qualification are in great demand in Kazakhstan. I am sure that our countries have mutual aim and big perspectives to strengthen cooperation in this field", Minister of Higher Education and Intellectual Property Mr. David Lammy said at the meeting.

The majority of Bolashak scholarship holders prefer to choose British Universities to obtain higher education, Paul Brummel, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Great Britain to Kazakhstan noted. "The administration of British leading universities is ready to take active part in creation of a new international university in Astana. Professional technical education is no less important and we have some achievements in this sphere", the Ambassador said.

Representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan, university principals took part in the meeting. As it was pointed out, a good example of education internationalization is the project of the High School of Economy of London and Kazakh-British Technical University. Internationalization gives Kazakhstani students an opportunity to pursue education programs of British prestigious universities and obtain certificate of Kazakhstani and British standard.
