International, national effort to address problems in Eurasian Economic Union legal system
MINSK.KAZINFORM Problems in building the legal system of the Eurasian Economic Union require solutions at the international and national levels.
The statement was made by Presiding Judge of the Eurasian Economic Community (EurAsEC) Court Musabek Alimbekov at the international conference held in Minsk on 27 June to discuss modern development and improvement trends in constitutional control. The conference was timed to the 20th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of Belarus, BelTA has learned.
Musabek Alimbekov said he believes that at present Eurasian integration is topic number one for Eurasian countries. "We talk about problem issues in the establishment of the legal system of the Eurasian integration project, which require joint solutions at the international and national levels. The resolution of the legal dilemmas at each level has to be coordinated, otherwise, it would be difficult to expect the integration processes to be successful," he said.
The Presiding Judge of the Eurasian Economic Community Court said it is necessary for court bodies of the Eurasian integration project and regional constitutional courts to tightly cooperate, BelTA reports.
Musabek Alimbekov drew attention to fruitful cooperation between the EurAsEC court and the Constitutional Court of Belarus. "The EurAsEC court highly appreciates the legal views formed by the constitutional courts of Eurasian countries, in particular, in Belarus," he added. Musabek Alimbekov added that over the last 20 years the Constitutional Court of Belarus had gone a long way in enforcing the constitutional law. "At present we can say with confidence that the system of constitutional control in Belarus has survived the test of time with honor and successfully handles the tasks it gets," he concluded.
