International Debate Tournament and Intellectual Games Championship in Almaty

ALMATY. February 24. KAZINFORM An International Debate Tournament and an Intellectual Games Championship were held in the Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU) in Almaty on February 21-22. The first event took place under the UN support and the second one – under K?Cell Company?s support, Kazinform refers to the University?s press-service.

That was the 7th International Debate Tournament held in the KBTU under the UN aegis. Its format conforms with the American parliamentary debate format. The tournament is an important event for the debate community of Kazakhstan and the CIS countries. The event brought together teams from Russia, Kyrgyzstan and all regions of Kazakhstan ? 100 teams in total. Following the results of the tournament held in three languages ? Kazakh, Russian and English, teams of the KBTU, International Academy of Business and KIMEP became the winners. The Almaty Intellectual Games Championship was held in brainstorm format. It was organized by the Almaty League of Intellectual Sport; 16 best teams from eight universities of the city gathered in the KBTU. The first and third places were won by the KBTU teams while the second place was given to the S. Demirel University?s team. The winners were handed out presents from the UN and Kcell Company.
