Int'l forum of ombudsmen kicked off in Kyrgyzstan

BISHKEK.  July 16. KAZINFORM /Vladimir Dobrovolsky/ An International Human Rights Forum with the participation of the ombudsmen of the CIS and Eastern Europe kicked off in Bishkek, capital city of Kyrgyzstan.

Prior to departure of the participants to Issyk-Kul for continuation of the forum, Kyrgyz Ombudsman Tursunbek Akun gave a press conference. He announced establishment of a common information portal of ombudsmen within the three-day forum.

Kazakhstan Human Rights Expert Askar Shakirov who is also taking part in the event noted that holding the Issyk-Kul forum would provide an open dialogue platform for exchange of experience and solution of issues regarding human rights protection.

According to the forum participants, a multilateral agreement regarding migration, promotion of establishment of the institute of ombudsman in Turkey, exchange of experience in solution of crisis situation and interaction of the public institutes with the authorities are expected to be signed during the work at Issyk-Kul. The issue of security of the journalists will be on agenda as well.
