Institute of Public Policy of the Amanat party announces the exit poll data on referendum
Following "Sotsis-A", the Institute of Public Policy of the Amanat party also shared the results of the exit poll: 72.3% of citizens voted for the construction of the nuclear power plant, 27.7% voted against, Kazinform News Agency correspondent reports.
44,160 people took part in the survey. The exit poll was conducted by professional interviewers trained in the exit poll method. 600 interviewers and supervisors were involved. The survey covered 300 polling stations.
The nationwide referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant started in Kazakhstan on October 6. The voter turnout surpassed 50% so the referendum was declared valid.
At 06:00 pm 61.56% or 7,537,675 individuals eligible to participate in the referendum voted. The preliminary results will be made public in a few days. The final results of the voting will be disclosed within seven days.
177 observers from 30 foreign countries and 4 international organizations, as well as 200 foreign journalists from 37 countries, were accredited for the referendum.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Roman Vassilenko reported that 74 precinct referendum commissions with a total of 12,307 voters had been formed abroad.
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, established the date of the referendum on the NPP for October 6, 2024, and signed a decree on its holding on September 2, 2024. Following this, a press conference was conducted at the Central Election Commission to discuss the national referendum on the construction of a nuclear power facility. Representatives of the Central Election Commission provided an explanation of the referendum's procedures during the conference.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated at the II Republican Forum of Deputies of Maslikhats of all levels held on October 3 that the referendum on the construction of a nuclear power plant would be a turning point, irrespective of the voting results.
