Initiative on holding referendum to extend First President's power supported

UST-KAMENOGORSK. December 23. KAZINFORM /Lyudmila Malko/ Today Lieutenant General, People's Hero of Kazakhstan Bakhytzhan Yertayev speaking at a session of the initiative group on holding the republican referendum to extend the First President's power by December 6, 2020 held in Ust-Kamenogorsk supported the idea of the East Kazakhstan community.

Members of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan, heads of ethnic-cultural centers, Senator of the Kazakh Parliament Anatoly Bashmakov, deputies of regional maslikhats, etc. expressed support to the idea of holding the republican referendum to extend the First President's power.

Representative of the Korean Diaspora Roman Kim said: "At the dawn of independence we started together with other post-soviet countries. All what our country has achieved during these years is a merit of Mr. Nazarbayev". The referendum will save time and energy necessary for further modernization of the country.

When Head of the Russian center Mikhail Panin and chairman of the initiative group Yerlan Sadykov were asked why such initiative came from the east, they said: "We and our children, residents of East Kazakhstan still bear the brunt of the effects of nuclear tests and know well the price of peaceful life. It is necessary to continue implementation of the rehabilitation program signed by our President. He is our guarantor".
