On the sidelines of the NSS Nazarbayev met with almost all the heads of the "Big Eight" states, members of the UN Security Council, which discussed the situation around the Ukraine.

"Kazakhstan is a recognizable state and our mediation is known worldwide. At the moment there is a very strong confrontation between the West and Russia. In the matter between the West and Russia it is necessary to move away from accusations, threats and sanctions. We must look for a peaceful way out of this situation", he said.
