In Kazakhstan more than half of nat'l standards harmonized with int'l requirements - Industry Ministry
ASTANA. June 10. KAZINFORM - In Kazakhstan 72% of the national standards have been harmonized with international requirements, the deputy chairman of the Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies Shynar Kazybaeva said.
"The total number of standards in the country is more than 4 million units. Among them harmonized with international standards are more than 3 million, accounting for 72% of the total amount, " said Sh.Kazybaeva at a roundtable in Astana. Theme of the meeting is "Accreditation: promoting world trade", and it focused on the World Day of accreditation.
As beleived by Sh.Kazybaeva, conformity assessment of products to national and international standards is the responsibility of the institutions involved in conformity assessment and the testing laboratories. A competence of such bodies and laboratories, in turn, is confirmed by the single authorized body. In Kazakhstan, this function is performed by the National Accreditation Center. For the development of standards in the republic there are 50 standard committees.
