III CICA Summit of Heads of State and Government over in Istanbul
ISTANBUL. June 9. KAZINFORM /Yernur Akanbay/ The III CICA Summit of Heads of State and Government was completed in Istanbul yesterday.
Following the results of the Summit there was adopted the Istanbul Declaration and signed the Convention on Privileges and Immunities of the CICA Secretariat. The presidency in the CICA passed from Kazakhstan to Turkey within the Summit. In this connection the representative of Turkey was appointed the CICA Executive Director.
Moreover, Vietnam and Iraq became full members of the CICA, and a number of members of the Conference reached 22. Bangladesh gained the status of observer. There are seven states with such status in the CICA.
For the first time the Summit was held outside Kazakhstan. Heads of state and government, ministers and official delegates of 36 countries, representatives of 14 international organizations took part in it. Within the framework of the Summit Nursultan Nazarbayev carried out a number of bilateral meetings with heads of state and government.
