I am confident in rightness of Kazakhstan's way - Vice Speaker of House of Representatives of Belgium Parliament Herman de Croo

SSELS. April 14. KAZINFORM /Dimash Syzdykov/ Kazakhstan is a large country with great potential. Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Belgium Federal Parliament Herman de Croo said it at a meeting with Kazakhstan Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg, Head of the Kazakh Mission to the EU and NATO Yerik Utembayev.

At the meeting the Vice Speaker congratulated Kazakhstan on successful beginning of chairmanship in the OSCE and said he had always supported our candidacy for this post and welcomed Astana's initiative to host the OSCE summit in 2010.

H. de Croo expressed optimism over future of Kazakhstan and satisfaction with the Kazakh President's initiatives on maintaining inter-ethnic and inter-faith harmony in the society as well as activity of the People's Assembly of Kazakhstan and the Congress of the World and Traditional Religions Leaders.

In the context of strengthening and expanding Kazakh-Belgian economic relations the parties discussed the most promising directions of cooperation. Y. Utembayev informed the Belgian side of the work on development of cooperation with the Center for Nuclear Research in the city of Mol, IMEC and Nanocyl nanotechnology institutes, seaport of Antwerp and others. H. De Croo drew Y. Utembayev's attention to importance of partnership relations with the Antwerp petrochemical cluster which is the second largest cluster in the world after the Houston one.

Besides, the parties exchanged views on the situation in Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and South Caucasus as well as on energy security.

The Belgian politician expressed full support to Kazakhstan's Path to Europe program. "I am confident in rightness of Kazakhstan's way", H.de Croo said upon completion of the meeting.

H. de Croo has made a huge contribution to development of inter-parliamentary ties between Kazakhstan and Belgium. He met with President N. Nazarbayev in Astana and Brussels twice and warmly remembers those friendly talks.
